Do as I say, not as I did - A story of overcoming mistakes and obstacles
Carol Frank, MBA began her career as a CPA with Ernst and Young and then got bit by the entrepreneurial bug and launched four companies in the pet industry including Avian Adventures, a manufacturer of premium quality bird cages and accessories. Carol recently leveraged her experience and passion for the pet industry and entrepreneurship to Whole Life Pets, an e-commerce site that specializes in natural/organic/holistic pet products. She is also a managing director of SDR Ventures, a boutique Investment Banking firm in Denver, CO where she helps small to medium sized companies with capital transactions.
Little did she know while excitedly pouring over her accounting books as an undergrad at the University of Texas that she would someday be manufacturing bird cages. If she did, she would definitely have paid more attention in Cost Accounting!
Carol also has an MBA from SMU
She is the author of the book “Do as I Say, Not as I Did!” Gaining Wisdom through the Mistakes of Highly Successful People”. Which has been translated into five languages.
Her expertise in entrepreneurship has resulted in appearances on Oprah as well as articles in Wall Street Journal, Business Week, The New York Times, and USA Today.
She’s served on over 12 non-profit boards including The National Speaker’s Association, Entrepreneurs Organization, The Dallas Zoo, and National Association of Women Business Owners.
When she’s not busy “entrepreneuring”, she enjoys fitness, running, skiing, scuba diving.
She has deservedly earned the nickname “The Birdlady” because of her passion for parrots – particularly for the two she adopted as babies, Murphy Green and Lola.
Carol’s book will be for sale at the end of her talk for the special price of $15….autographed, of course!
